WATER DRAGON POSTER

My Blurry Red Sunset

Red sky at night, shepherd’s delight

Red sky in morning, fisherman’s warning

My blurry red sunset

That phrase I heard it first time from one of my English friend few years back. We were sitting inside the Subway while eating our food when the sun was going down. The panorama of the sky was just simply beautiful! Red sky and the big circle of the sun. I just couldn’t stop staring at it. Unfortunately I missed taking picture of the red sunset at that time since my friend took me long way to the beach and by the time we arrived there the sun was gone already. Gutted!

Last year on April another friend of mine took me somewhere for a weekend and on our way back home we saw the same panorama of the sky, the red sunset. We were on a motorway on that time and I insisted my friend to park anywhere possible because I wanted to take some pictures. It was a battling process, LOL, because it’s not easy to get a parking space while the sun sank slowly at the horizon. Finally we got a space and I just jumped out of the car straight away. I think it was quite cold at the time as far as I could remember and I had no gloves put on because I was in hurry. My hands started freezing and felt numb but I just kept going taking pictures. That is one reason why the pictures came out blurry. The other reason was I had no tripod and still lack of technique. The only thing I could think about on that time was just try to shoot the big circle of the red sunset. I used my Samsung Digimax A7.

To improve the quality of my blurry red sunset images then I used Picassa by applied the auto contrast, increased the shadow (tuning), and then soften it.

Hope you like it. What do you think?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Sun

Image

About a week ago a friend of mine took me along to Bradford in West Yorkshire, Northern England. On our way back home at around 7 pm we saw this phenomena of the sun before our very eyes. I just couldn’t stop admiring it and while my friend drove the car I just kept going with my camera taking pictures. The panorama was just simply beautiful and amazing!

I was going to post these pictures a day after but then decided to hold them up until the new theme of the Weekly Photo Challenge: Sun, been given out. I got a feeling that the new theme would be something related to my pictures and I was right! I am not a fortune teller nor a mind reader though, LOL. I am going to spoil you with my crepuscular rays.

So here comes the sun…

Light Reflection of Lent

Image

To mark The Season of Lent this year that would has been just started today and known as Ash Wednesday then I would like to present an image that relate to that event or theme.

This image I took in March 2010 just few days before Easter where priests were giving Sacrament of Penance.

The location is inside The Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ The King Liverpool. The sun was very bright at the time. I couldn’t remember whether it was raining before or not. As many church in England or Europe where their windows are made from colored glass so is this Cathedral Church. That is why when the sun shines very bright then we could see its light reflected by the colored glass. Just beautiful!

I wish everybody have a good Lent especially those who celebrate it. It’s time to reflect our lives more deeply during The Lent. I took this opportunity to share Pope Benedict XVI’s message for Lent 2012.

Light Reflection of Light

I tried to capture the sunshine with my Samsung Digimax A7. It just shows how bright the sun was. It was so shiny.
